The Ashes

England will play Australia in the 2023 Ashes Series, the most famous test cricket series in the world. England haven't won the famous Urn since 2015, including two 4-0 series losses away in Australia, so the team and the nation will be desperate to get back to winning ways on home soil. Ben Stokes took over the captaincy in the summer of 2022 with a key task to build a cohesive squad that can challenge and ultimately regain the Ashes. The team have had a strong start with Ben as captain, supported by Brendon McCullum who have rebranded with an ultra aggressive style, looking to take wickets and score big quickly. England beat New Zealand 3-0 in June, followed by a one match victory against India to draw the delayed series and finally defeating South Africa 2-1 in an epic battle towards the end of the season. Australia haven't played as many matches as England since the last Ashes Series, but they've notched up a win in Pakistan and drawn a two match Formulated all the way back in 1882, England and Australia have played 72 series in that time, 36 in England and 36 in Australia. Australia have a slender lead with 34 wins, England with 32 and 6 series have been drawn.
