England will play South Africa at Edgbaston in the second test match of three. The last three test series have gone England’s way, winning 3-1 in South Africa in December 2019, 3-1 in England in 2017 and 2-1 back in South Africa in 2015/16.
It’s been a mixed run of form for the away side in recent years. The Proteas defeated the West Indies 2-0 in the summer of 2021, comfortably dispatching a poor West Indies team. Dean Elgar is the current South African captain and Quinton de Kock has been ever present as the teams wicketkeeper and one of the primary scorers.
Prior to that, Pakistan got the better of South Africa, winning 2-0 in the start of the 2021 cricket year. Both games were closely fought, with Fawad Alam and Hasan Ali starring in the two games with Mohammed Rizwan claiming the player of the tournament.
