Henley Royal Regatta Celebration

The Henley Royal Regatta

The Henley Royal Regatta, held annually in Henley-on-Thames, England, is known for its tradition and formal atmosphere. The dress code at the Henley Royal Regatta is quite strict, especially in certain areas of the event. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Stewards’ Enclosure:
    • Gentlemen: Jacket, tie, and tailored long trousers required. Cravats are not allowed.
    • Ladies: Required to wear dresses or skirts with a hemline below the knee. Trouser suits and bare midriffs are not permitted. Hats are traditionally worn but are not obligatory.
  • Regatta Enclosure:
    • No formal dress code in this area.
    • Attendees are expected to dress in smart and appropriate manner.

It’s important to note that the dress code is strictly enforced in certain areas, especially in the Stewards’ Enclosure, where failure to comply may result in refusal of entry. The dress code is more relaxed in some areas, so attendees should be mindful of the specific enclosure they are in.

  • Gentlemen:
    • Tailored suits or blazers with dress trousers.
    • Smart shirts with optional ties.

    • Chic daywear such as summer dresses or trousers and jumpsuits.
    • Beautiful hats, headpieces, and fascinators.
    • Dressy flats or heels (note: gravel paths and lawns are not the best surfaces for stiletto heels).

While specific dress codes may vary from year to year, luxury and smart casual attire are often encouraged to align with the upscale and stylish nature of the event. Salon Privé offers an opportunity to wear special attire and stand out alongside a lawn full of magnificently rare and exotic curated cars, luxury brands, and stunning artworks. Shorts and T-shirts are not permitted on any day at Salon Privé.

    • Ladies: Dresses and skirts should be of modest length, and hats are a must. Strapless, off-the-shoulder, halter neck, and spaghetti straps are not permitted. Trouser suits and jumpsuits are welcome, but they should be full-length and of matching material and colour.
  • Queen Anne Enclosure:
    • Gentlemen: A suit with a shirt and tie is required.
